Memory Mon 58 ~Mater Memories

These tomato fields bring back mater memories.
All those tomatoes Mother and Daddy raised
and then later I raised.
Seems like we made endless cans of mater juice
and canned tomatoes
and even froze tomatoes.
When I saw these fields along the Ohio river in Kentucky
I realized I didn't raise many maters.
My mater memories.

Quilt Shot Block ~ Elkhorn Creek Quilt Share- Part 2

Last month our Quilt Guild gave ourselves a wonderful quilt show.
We brought a quilt that had lots of meaning to us to the meeting to share.
It could be our first quilt we made,
a quilt given to us from our family,
a quilt someone made for us,
or just a quilt full of memories over the past.
I think we even had quilts that date back to about 1930!
Last week's Quilt Shot Block post shared only about half of those quilts.
This post shares the rest of the quilts.
enJOY!

Thoughtful Thinking Thursday #100 ~ Sharing Ideas

I THINK having a day at Birdsong , the local quilt store,
to just take your project and "sit and sew"
is a great way to get ideas & meet new, newer or old friends.
Probably the person I got this idea from,
didn't THINK they would be sharing an idea that day.
This lady stored her quilt pieces, directions & layout in a pizza box.

"THINK about it."

Bride's Father Gift

A Bride to-be sent me a picture she found of a tie that had a heart sewn inside with a message for the father. She asked if I could put messages on handkerchiefs for her father and grandfather.
I LOVE this kind of challenge.  I decided to make them like I've been making my quilt labels recently.

 Turn inside out.
Practice writing and placement with heat erasable pen.
The trace with permanent ink pen.
When ironed onto handkerchief the red will disappear.

Oops, at this point I realized I had the wrong date.
Because of the permanent ink, had to make this one over.
Good thing I was given a pack of 6 handkerchiefs. 😊

Yes, that's the way she used to say it.
